- For a routine gynecological appointment, the ideal time is days 5–7 of your menstrual cycle, right after your period ends.
- At this stage, examination findings and test results are usually the most accurate.
- If you have symptoms such as pain, unusual discharge or itching, please don’t delay your visit—schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
- Personal hygiene: Please take a shower, but avoid using harsh intimate hygiene products.
- Clothing: Choose comfortable clothes that are easy to remove. It’s best to avoid tights or complicated outfits.
- Documents: Bring your passport, medical insurance policy and any previous test results, if available.
- Consultation: I’ll ask about your health, menstrual cycle, symptoms and lifestyle. Please be open and honest—this helps ensure an accurate diagnosis.
- Examination: This includes a visual examination and palpation.

- If an ultrasound examination is planned, it is best scheduled for days 5–7 of your menstrual cycle.
- If you have pain, heavy or prolonged bleeding, or bleeding between periods, an ultrasound can be performed on any day of your cycle.
- Remember that your gynecologist is here to care for your health.
- Their role is to help, never to judge.
- If you feel very anxious, try a few breathing exercises or listen to calming music before your appointment.
- Anxiety usually eases within the first few minutes once you see that your doctor is attentive and ready to help.

For a routine check-up, it’s usually best to reschedule your appointment. However, if you have urgent symptoms—such as severe pain or unusual discharge—you can and should see a gynecologist even during your period.
Try to recall at least an approximate date. If you can’t, simply let your doctor know—they’ll ask additional questions to better understand your cycle.
